TOA HAHLI INIKA

HAHLI INIKA is mostly white and blue, with gunmetal grey tools and armor. All of her sockets are white while the shoulder armor and lower legs are a lovely mix of white and blue. The feet are also a blue/white mix but the colors are too mixed and creates a more blurry and less attractive look. The VAHKI parts in her lower arms are blue and so are the upper leg plates.

With the exception of the feet the colors all blend in very well, the dark blues and the light white, as well as the gunmetal grey overtop of the blue torso give a nice level of depth and contrast. The tool looks very suiting with it’s harpoon style and streamlined look. The smaller “missile” on what looks like a rail on the top seems to be a sort of projectile that doesn’t actually fire, but may indicate that it fires a harpoon in the storyline. If so it even has what appears to be a cable wound around a reel at the back, all etched into the plastic. The tool flashes the same green as JALLER’s sword, but I think it’s better suited to her design than on JALLER’s. HAHLI’s blue and white colors scheme along with the fact she’s a water toa will make you think “aqua green” when you see it flashing.

Some of our readers who had been afraid of the “mustache” like tubing will be happy to know that up close her mask is actually very feminine looking. Up close you can see the tubes are more like a breathing apparatus, perhaps a downside since her mask is supposed to be a mask of detection, and I imagine unless the transformation added that feature to the mask when lightening hit the canisters, that it may be out of place if it really is a breathing apparatus. While the tube thing running along the back of her head is bumpy looking (and looks sort of like it has truck style mufflers in the back) the remaining parts of the mask are quite streamlined and smooth. I should say streamlined in a different style than that of the tool she uses, since when I said streamlined there I was trying to say how well the tool looked and fit into the theme. In this case it looks smooth with a thin line starting from the back of the head and ending near the nose. Two similar lines arc over each eye giving it a graceful eyebrow look, combined with the flaps that look similar to long eyelashes and the three dots under each eye looking like “beauty spots” as some people call them…Well maybe it’s too feminine but altogether its one of the better and more toa like masks. Like HEWHII’s mask perhaps the mouth sits a little too high as mine has a more green mouth than white.

TOA HAHLII, though least popular by the poll I used to decide who to review and in what order, is in my opinion one of the better toa compared to JALLER, and KONGU, if not for the colors then for the good supply of much needed white socket parts. The parts with mixed colors will, I admit, be harder to MoC with on anything with just a blue or just a white color scheme.

Well, this marks the last review of the TOA INIKA sets, in some respects these are quite possibly the best toa yet, or at least since the TOA NUVA. The toa after the TOA NUVA up to this point were pretty much the same thing with different tools, a mask, and a slight height adjustment if we were lucky. In this case we have two types of torsos and feet, some transparent parts, a toa of stone with revamped colors, with the only real drawback being no mechanical mechanism and head parts that could have been designed better. We even got at least nine new masks with some interesting powers. This looks to be a good year for the BIONICLE® toy line.
