MOC: Rogue Virus

This creation by Jason802 features some interesting story mechanics to explain what otherwise might be mistaken for a character and his equipment. The four armed creature is a rogue Artificially Intelligent virus, while the computer terminal, Data Core, and gun are what the virus is housed within. The gun acts as a delivery system to weaponize the virus, and connects to the computer core to assist the virus with it’s Diagnostics and system updates. The character was inspired by Denmark(Also sometimes called “The Afraid”) from the youtube series “Reviving Bionicle”.

The combination of system and CCBS works out perfectly for this kind of storytelling, using the CCBS character to represent what the virus perceives itself as (or how it appears as a hologram?), while having this character represented to those in the physical world through a brick based machine. Although the virus itself looks cool, my favorite part has to be the full qwerty keyboard on the terminal. Jason802 does advise that the toa head in the lower left of the picture is supposed to be connected to the gun as it’s barrel, however the rendering software used at the time couldn’t handle this properly. Jason802 was trying to build this MOC physically, however his last attempt to order the pieces worked out to over 600 dollars, causing the project to be put on hold. Just the tiny keyboard itself would cost upwards of 70 bucks to build by my estimate!
