MOC: Makuta Ornek, Fist of Destral

This is a creation by Gilahu

Ornek early on earned himself a reputation as a brilliant tactician and great warrior and was thus eventually made field marshal of the Brotherhood – in other words, he was in direct command of the Brotherhood’s main forces, answering only to Miserix, Teridax, and Antroz.

Seeing Teridax’s coup as a chance for more conquest, Ornek readily supported him, slowly tightening the Brotherhood’s control over the Matoran Universe in the following millennia.
Eventually Ornek was tasked with retaking Zakaz, but wasn’t prepared for the Skakdi’s ferociousness. Ere he could land his whole army his troops got overwhelmed. Ornek died fighting alongside them.

My overhauled revamp of Ornek, one of the MOCs I built and still am building in connection to the Brotherhood Project which aims at creating a complete Brotherhood of Makuta through MOCs and backstories. This is a revamp of an older MOC by me. There is a lot of creativity in this MOC, especially in the custom made head design. I’ve never been able to come up with many good head designs on characters without masks, so I really appreciate the skill of someone who can make one this unique and detailed. I think some of the techniques are using “illegal connections”, though if you stripped those out it would still be a more imaginative design than anything I’ve come up with on my own.

As for constructive criticism, this is Gilahu’s 3’rd iteration and they clearly have a good direction in mind for the character’s design, so it’s already about perfect. I think the design might look a little better with couple more blades worked to the design, particularly on the lower body to match the head better. Maybe a smaller blade stored on his side, perhaps a slide out blade under one of the arms? What I think might look good though, is if he plugged the silver tubing on the leg into a silver “Axle and Pin Connector Angled #3 or #4” with a silver tooth, fang, or bohrok eye at the other end. That would cap off the end of the tubing and blend it into the body a little better while adding just a touch more silver to balance the colors.

You can see more of Gilaha’s work here on DeviantArt. He is very creative when it comes to using parts, especially when it comes to original head designs for his creations.
