MOC: LEGO Takua!

This is a creation by Theo’s Bricks

I’m not the biggest fan of brick-built BIONICLE characters, though I still have to appreciate a well done character like Theo’s movie-version Takua. It’s amazing to think a MOC this detailed was built under a strict limitation: all the parts come from an off-the-shelf LEGO set, the 31124 Super Robot. Theo had to make a few sacrifices in the design, though the result is a MOC that anyone can replicate for a mere $9.99 USD, his video includes the instructions to replicate the MOC. One of the best features has to be the articulated eyebrows, which makes Takua much more expressive than his recent appearance in the GWP set.

As far as constructive criticism goes, I’d want to give Takua an articulated mouth too, allowing him to open and close it along with the eyebrows to better mimic his expressions in the movie. I have no idea if this could be accomplished strictly with the parts from the Super Robot kit though. It would certainly be fun to tweak and improve upon the MOC with whatever parts I had on hand though.

You can see more creations by Theo’s Bricks here on youtube. Their videos are mostly focused on alternate brick-built models and instructions for official LEGO sets. The MOC videos often feature BIONICLE and other robotic characters, as well as creatures and vehicles.
