MOC: Grand Titan

This is a MOC by Nexusnui

The original Exo-Force line featured brick-based mechs. Nexusnui’s revamp uses mostly Bionicle and CCBS to make an updated version of the Grand Titan. In his video, he details the entire building process for viewers. The arms may be fairly easy to figure out, though the torso has some very creative designs. I particularly like the flexible control sticks for the cockpit, and using the ankle socket of the mata feet to hold the missiles.

Even though I’m not particularly interested in the Exo-Force theme, the mech’s design gives me some interesting ideas for Bionicle characters. There are plenty of tiny characters like Krana, Kraata, repurposed Hero Factory and Bionicle miniatures that can fit inside a smaller suit like this. This also leaves room for some additional equipment to give them more character than just being hidden under a faceplate or carapace. I could also see this deign used for cyborgs that dock inside their own bodies, akin to the Borg queen from Star Trek.

As for constructive criticism, the legs look a bit basic. I think something to add a little more character to them, even just the feet, might have greatly improved the overall appearance. I also think the gun arm might look better with one of those flexible bandolier parts “feeding” it, since it’s missing the fiber optic cable from the original.

You can check out more of Nexusnui’s work here on youtube. He has more Exo-Force MOC construction videos if you like what you see here, as well as some Bionicle content.
