So I stopped by my local TRU on Friday, and as I was scanning over the shelves for any new sets, I happened to spy some familiar little plastic pods hiding behind one of the shelf-mounted POP displays. Yup, KRAATA pods. Of course, my glee at having finally found them was immediately dashed by the realization that TRU always charges 50% more than anyone else (well, only 20% more than K-Mart for the KRANA-KAL pack, but that’s another story). Then I realized that they were wearing $1.99 pricetags. I ran one over to the nearest price-checker (I couldn’t quite trust the pricetags), and it did indeed scan at $1.99, though it listed as KRAATA PROMO. I can’t be sure if this is a short-term thing, or if the “promo” bit refers to the Geoffrey hat deal that they’ve got going this month, but my instinct is to say that they’ve finally learned that no one wants to pay an extra buck if they can buy them elsewhere at MSRP or less.
