BMP Backlog: Tabletop Game Booklets and Flyers

Tabletop Games section

Today, Quest for the Masks, Bohrok Swarm, and Quest for Makuta make the jump to the new site! I grew up with an unlimited edition Lewa & Onua theme deck for QFTM. I didn’t know as a kid, but the ‘unlimited’ run was quite short, and a bit of a rarity compared to the First Edition run (that’s why you basically only see First Edition cards on eBay). I learned something new about the whole situation only a few days ago: a revised rule book was included only with the unlimited decks! I haven’t read through line-by-line to pick out the differences, but the 2.0 book does include a full list of booster cards.

While I was scanning this 2.0 rule book, I went ahead and scanned a bunch of other things related to the trading card game. That’s all on the QFTM/Bohrok Swarm page now: v1 of the rule book, the Bohrok Swarm rule book, and the story booklets as well. A couple of these we had hosted scans of previously, but they’re now in much better quality.

Another totally new addition are scans I’ve made of retail flyers. These were sent out to retailers to convince them to stock the TCG, and they have some interesting details on pricing. The Toa bios in the Theme Deck flyer are also ripped straight from a story bible… but that’s less interesting nowadays, since we’ve got the actual story bible!

Finally, a different addition from the realm of ‘games you play in real life.’ brickome tracked down a digital copy of the Quest for Makuta board game manual in Danish, from an archived webpage. It’s quite the rarity to have any form of a source digital document for this era of BIONICLE! The PDF is hosted now on a makeshift page for the board game, which will have more stuff added at a later time.
