A Summit Of You

The LEGO Company announced a new restructuring plan . This is the first official announcement that really defines what “core products” are. Basically, if they’ve got little plastic construction pieces in them, they’re core products. If they’re video games, clothing, or movies, they’re not “core ventures”, and will either be brought to an end, or licensed off for more qualified organizations to produce (the BIONICLE® movies are already produced by partner companies, so they are not at all affected by this). Any fears that a particular theme is doomed by not being “core” enough will hopefully be quelled by this announcement.

On a related subject, Jake McKee announced yesterday that a new MyOpinions poll has been posted. This one is particularly interesting, as it asks which themes you feel The LEGO Company should focus on, and in what direction those themes should be taken. There are even plenty of options that allow you to add in your own original ideas.

Oh yeah, and later in the poll, they ask if The LEGO Company should produce Halloween costumes (yeah, I thought that’d get your interest…).
