A First Look At The PIRAKA From Vashwood!

Below are the pictures Vashwood sent in for us, and the text of the email they were attached to.

Yes, unfortunately, the head piece is attached to the spine, which makes posing the creature rather difficult. The rubber just wants to keep bending flat, which pulls the head up and the arms out. It also looks very ridiculous as I’m sure you can see (sorry some of the pics are a little blurry).

The construction is a little on the hollow side, and looks a little limp because of the long gangly legs and jumbo-size head.

The new collectables are sorta lame too, though I wasn’t a fan of anything past the Kraata, so I don’t know if that can be taken with much regard. In any case, it seems as though the sets come with 4 glow-in-the-dark balls which can be launched out of a rather ingenious little crossbow-esque device. This is one of the highlights of the whole set, though I wouldn’t exactly say it’s worth the money.

Another cool feature is the light-up eye piece, which fits into the head piece in a similar way that the eye pieces fit into the Metru heads, making it a rather cool addition to the Bionicle MOCs we all love to make. Unfortunately, it seems as though the only color they are made in is an orange-red color.

The new parts (arms, legs, chest) aren’t anything special, but by far the coolest thing (and what sold me on this set) was the neato packaging, with a hard plastic version of the Piraka’s head sculpted onto the lid of the can. Also, the light-up eye piece that attaches to the set comes inside the lid so you can “Try Me” as it were.

All-in-all, this set is really only mediocore at best. The construction of the Piraka is weak and awkward, and the new collectables are…well…marbles.

Peace,
Eric
