LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan has BIG news to share—and we wanted you to be the first to know. Tomorrow, we will begin accepting applications for the most exciting job on the market—the coveted role of Master Model Builder at our soon-to-open attraction in Great Lakes Crossing.

Adult LEGO® fans can apply tomorrow through midnight on Monday, Jan. 4, for the full-time salaried Master Model Builder position. Applicants will compete against each other in an exciting two-day Brick Factor competition, set for Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 9-10 at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills.

The Master Model Builder is a hands-on role that is responsible for maintaining and updating MINILAND models and developing new features, exhibitions and building new models at LEGOLAND Discovery Center, as well as working with the thousands of children expected to visit the attraction. Contestants must be familiar with LEGO bricks and have experience in the model-making or craft field.

During the two-day Brick Factor event, participants will display their skill by taking part in creative challenges and building original LEGO brick models in timed rounds of judged competition. The day’s top competitors will participate in formal interviews and the final building round on Sunday, after which one will be crowned the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan Master Model Builder.

If you’re Michigan’s biggest LEGO® fan, can build absolutely anything out of LEGO bricks and would love the chance to showcase your skills to the public, enter our Brick Factor competition to compete and become our new Master Model Builder.

LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Michigan opens spring 2016 at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets, and the winner of Brick Factor will be offered a full-time job at LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Michigan as Master Model Builder.

This is a very exciting role where you will be designing, building, removing, installing, and repairing all models at the attraction, including MINILAND® models ranging from mini figures to houses, and Show and Event style models of all sizes. We are looking for someone with flair who has the ability to create a wide range of models. This role is critical in supporting the day to day operations of the attraction including liaising with our customers and children across this busy entertainments attraction. Duties will include:

• Follow design briefs to meet the time, budget and directions given to build LEGO® models for displays and marketing promotions
• Maintenance and installation of all LEGO features; recognizing when models need repair, replacing or redesign
• Manage workshop to ensure areas are kept clean and neat while maintaining accurate LEGO inventory for all in-house elements
• Act as a spokesperson for the LEGOLAND® Discovery Center to media outlets
• Conduct building workshop classes and events include designing LEGO models and content
• Keep informed and up-to-date on building techniques and technical methods
• Maintain contact with the LEGO Group and LEGO S.R.O. to ensure the LEGO models follow strict display guidelines
• All other duties as assigned

THE AUDITION:

Applicants will compete against each other in an exciting two-day Brick Factor competition on Saturday January 9th and Sunday January 10th at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets. Participants will display their skill by taking part in creative challenges and building original LEGO brick models in timed rounds of competition, with eliminations taking place during each round. The days’ top competitors will participate in formal interviews during the final building round on Sunday, after which one will be crowned the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan Master Model Builder.

Candidates will be contacted via email with dates and times for their audition as well as additional details about the competition.
Requirements/Qualifications: The successful candidate will be self-motivated with excellent communication and customer service skills. They will have an outgoing, enthusiastic and “can do” attitude. Additionally with a love for all things LEGO®.
