The Incredible Shrinking TOA KAITA NUVA

At about 8-1/2″ tall WAIRUHA NUVA stands nearly two inches shorter than the original WAIRUHA. As a result, the arms look significantly more in proportion to the rest of the body. Unfortunately, the result still looks somewhat deformed. The shoulders are set quite far back on the torso, so he is unable to touch his hands across his chest. The neck is articulated with a ball-joint, and the head is located right over the torso, but the neck is attached in the back, so rather than turning, the head swings from side to side. One thing that I found odd about the torso is that it calls for five of the shoulder armor pieces, but none of the torso armor. I found that it looks a lot better if you attach a piece of torso armor (upside-down, or it won’t work right) to the green torso before attaching the piece of shoulder immediately above it. Also, while I’m a bit confused as to why there are two props on the backs of the shoulders, I do have to say that they look kinda cool there.

The legs are a bit chubby up top, but the real problem is that if you aren’t careful about how you pose the feet, they’ll pop off. The feet have the same pegs that are used to attach the weapons to the TOA NUVAS’ feet, but there are no instructions showing which weapons are supposed to be used, so you get to choose whether you want a swimmer with a giant melee weapon, or an ice-skater with two giant melee weapons.

One thing I really don’t understand is why the weapons are so large. It’s one thing to fight with a spear in one hand, or one sword in each hand, but to fight with a spear in one hand and a double-ended axe in the other…well, let’s just say it probably takes three brains to be able to walk and fight with them without chopping off important stuff, like legs, arms and maybe a head.
