The Cure For What Ails Ya

So you’re looking for a BOHROK VA set, huh? You want to build the BOHROK VA, the BOHROK VA KAITA, that new INFERNIVAKA, and you want to buy hordes of them to steal the feet from so you can build an army of new MATORANS. Yeah, everyone wants that. Unfortunately, they haven’t shown up at toy stores yet.

There’s a small educational toy store near here that’s called The Sandcastle. When you get a store that small, the owner can often be found working the cash register, you can special order sets that you might not be able to find anywhere else, and you can find out a bit more about availability than you can at one of the large retail stores. (As a ‘thank you’, I’ve been telling her which BIONICLE™ sets are hot sellers and hard to find) So I asked her to call me when she got some. Nothing. I stopped by a couple weeks later and she said that her LEGO® sales rep told her they wouldn’t be out until July. That didn’t sound right to me since I’d already bought about 30 of them. So I started thinking about the situation.

After spending a few days mulling over the problem, I finally realized something. While I’d gotten a number of reports from people saying they’d found them, noone had claimed to have found them in a major retail store. A few people said they’d found them at a local grocery store, maybe a convenience store, or even sometimes a gas station. Primarily, however, I’d been hearing that people were finding them at pharmacies. Yes, pharmacies. Now, when I was a little tot, pharmacy toy aisles were known for a lot of things, but quality toys was not usually one of them. About the best you could hope for were Hot Wheels, or, if you were lucky, you might find some Penny Racers. While I had become aware in the last year or two that pharmacies were starting to sell LEGO® sets, I never dreamed that they might end up getting something as popular as the BOHROK VA while the biggest toy stores were left out. Still, I had to check it out for myself, so I stopped by the two Walgreen’s on my way home from work. Jackpot. Well, small jackpot. At the first one I found a pair of KOHRAK VA, and at the second one I found a TAHNOK VA and a NUHVOK VA. I needed parts so I bought all four. I stopped by a few days later, and they had both stocked more to their shelves. If you’re looking to buy these in person, I would suggest calling around to all of the pharmacies in your area and seeing what they’ve got.

Of course, if you’re willing to pay the additional shipping charges, you can always buy them here , or if you live in the right area, you can probably find them at one of the seven LEGO® stores located around the US.

Anyways, I’m going to keep checking on this and see what official info I can find out.
