My name is Purple Dave, the world's foremost expert on the subject of BIONICLE™. Philip Wise approached me a few weeks ago and begged me to build a BIONICLE™ website that wouldn't suck. Well, okay, I'm exaggerating...a lot.
My name really is Purple Dave, at least to my friends. It's a nickname that I picked up in my college days that resulted in me becoming a sort of small-time campus celebrity.
I've been collecting LEGO® sets for quite some time, and I've actually owned a set with non-articulated police minifigs as well as the famed Yellow Castle. Recently I've been collecting all of the Star Wars® sets and reviewing them on Rebelscum.com. I'm not really an expert on BIONICLE™, but I have been keeping track of as much of it as I could, so I'm reasonably well-informed right now.
After seeing Rebelscum postings on the BIONICLE™ line, I dropped a few messages to Philip regarding local availability, and after a while he told me that he wanted to assemble a website devoted to BIONICLE™ collecting news and asked me if I'd be interested in running it. I didn't exactly jump at the chance because, while it sounded very interesting, I'm not experienced in running a website. However, with the simplicity of operating the Collecting HQ software, the website basically manages itself and all I have to do is tell it what to say, so here I am. In the beginning there will probably be a few rocks in the road, but maybe POHATU can kick the bigger ones out of the way...
