Ow.

Thursday at a little after 11 in the morning, I was heading out to do some errands on my lunch break. I was driving down one of the main roads in the area, so I was probably going about 50mph on slushy roads. Just before I got to the intersection the light turned yellow, and I figured that if I tried to stop I’d end up stopping halfway through anyways, what with the road conditions and all, so I decided to go through the yellow light. Someone else apparently thought I was going to stop because he performed a left turn directly in front of me. By the time I realized what was going on, I was within ten feet of his car. I couldn’t stop in time, and due to the wet, slushy roads and a bit of untimely indecision, I couldn’t get around him either. My car basically ended up impaling his front passenger-side door.

Thankfully, both of us were wearing our seatbelts, and he did not have a passenger with him (his car ended up about a foot skinnier in the middle) so there were no obvious injuries at the time of the accident. My left elbow started hurting about an hour afterwards, but hopefully with three days of rest it will be feeling better in time for work next week. And my body was sore and stiff this morning when I woke up, but my doctor has me pumped full of ibuprofen, which he said would significantly reduce the level of post-traumatic pain that I would feel, so I basically feel like I had a hard workout instead of feeling like I’d been slapped by a bear. Of course, this doesn’t help my car at all, but that can wait until next week.

Anyways, I’m a bit woozy (probably from taking so much ibuprofen) but I’m doing my best to not get any more behind on answering e-mails. Mostly I’m succeeding at that, but not completely.
