MOC Spotlight, Mask Autoforge, By Imatron
Posted by Richard on June 18, 2012 at 10:35 AM CST:

Heres one of my MOCs for a change, a mask making machine with arms that move back and forth with the twist of a knob to give it the appearance of building a mask in the center.

I had wanted to make a somewhat more complex design, with a couple conveyors, a cooling vat, etc, but I was happy with this. I might revisit the design later once I have a better idea of how to add more to it without making it look too convoluted.

Here you can see the main body and some small details I put in, like the tubes leading from the bottom to the top, a computer control panel, different tools on the arms, etc.

Turning the "main vent" back and forth makes the arms move, while the smaller pin in it's center can be spun to make the fan spin.

This is what I used to connect the forge to the Mahri packaging to create the base

There are eight arms, turning the knob in one direction pushes four of them toward the mask and pulls the other four arms away from it, turning the knob the other direction makes those four pull back and the other four move into position.

Want to see the arms in motion? Here's a youtube link.
