BioniWars: Twice The Man He Used To Be

I’d make more of these, but I’d have to make reproductions of some of the pieces. And if you haven’t figured it out from the bad jokes, this is the CloneToaper, one of the few good-guys that made it into the BioniWars lineup.

The CloneToaper gun was one of the more interesting to build, especially since I had seriously depleted my stock of the ridged plus-rod joiners used on the front of the barrel. The muzzle flash was also interesting, as this is the only hand-held gun that I know of that shoots a blue beam instead of a red one. Unfortunately, the 1×1 cone has not been made in trans-flourescent blue, and the only set that comes with 1×1 cylinders in that color is the new TIE Bomber. Fortunately, mine came with one extra so I didn’t have to go out and drop another $30 just so he could shoot his gun.

In addition to adding armor plating to his arms, legs, and chest, I had to figure out a good way to represent the Batman-esque utility belt, including the distinctive cylinder worn in the back. Another thing that I had to add was the odd raised square set into the back torso armor plate. The challenge there was to not make it so large as to appear like a full backpack.

The things that I’d like to change are the legs and arms (I’d love to see the original TOA limbs get reproduced in primary TOA colors like the black ones). I’d also like to be able to use a more accurate KANOHI, but the truth is that there really isn’t one that I can use. I considered using a white HAU so he’d more closely resemble Jango Fetoa, but I realized that it would look more appropriate on a different character, and the MIRU was really the only KANOHI that could convey the height of the Clone helmet.
