M.I.A.

Okay, so here’s the official scoop on where to find the BOHROK VA. LEGO® is trying to expand their market base by introducing their product into non-traditional markets. They’re really pushing to get small introductory sets into what they call “high-traffic stores”. This basically includes drugstores, grocery stores, convenience stores, and gas stations, which all have a very steady stream of customers who might pick up an inexpensive impulse item. Here’s the trick. Your local drugstore isn’t going to be as receptive to the idea of stocking a toyline if they know every kid in the city is going to be hunting for it at one of the major toy stores, so sometimes the toy manufacturer has to entice them with sets that will not be sold at stores like TRU, Wal-Mart, Target, and K-Mart. Apparently the BOHROK VA fall into that category, so there is currently no plan to release them to the stores that traditionally stock LEGO® product. Comic book shops are another market that’s being targetted right now, but I believe it’s in the very early stages, so presently only a handful of them have started stocking product.

Now, as for the VAHI, at this time, this information has not been sent through the official LEGO® channels yet, and the only reason I have it right now is that Carrie just got clearance to leak it shortly before our conversation. In June, Walgreen’s drugstore will be doing an exclusive promotion where anyone who purchases a BIONICLE™ product at one of their stores will be able to send in a coupon to be redeemed for a free VAHI. That’s right. Free. VAHI. This information will be found in their rebate book sometime in June (Carrie couldn’t give me an exact date yet), and it will be sent out in their ad flyers on Sunday, June 16th.
