Pack-Popper Prevention

I’ve been hearing about this in a few places like LUGNET, but I finally managed to track down the proof. LEGO® has initiated a packaging change to the 8525 KANOHI packs where the back of the box is no longer perforated. This means that it’s not nearly as easy to surreptitiously pop the packs open and peek inside. Hopefully the result of this is that people will stop cheating and ruining the fun for everyone else. If you look at the attached photo, you’ll notice that the upper box has a perforated semi-circle that cuts through the black PAKARI and blue AKAKU, while the lower box doesn’t have any perforation at all.

So how do you open them after you’ve bought them? Well, if you’ve ever watched a toddler tear into a birthday present, you’ve pretty much got the idea.
